god does not want me to swim

so no joke, i have tried to get a swim workout in a good 6 times in the last week. i desperately need one. the majority of the time i get to the gym and then the pools closed due to inclimate weather. sometimes i see or hear inclimate weather, other times not so much. last night i got to the gym and realized i didnt have my swimsuit. this morning i must have jinxed it because i went to the gym in the bathing suit. of course the pool was closed. the field wasnt open. not an awesome start to my thursday. so i decided to go to walmart pick up some things i needed for work and then go back to the pool for a workout. i actually got a pretty good “jog” in at walmart. the store was empty so i ran the isles. i also lugged bookcases. when i headed back to the gym my knight in shining armor was there with the key to the field. hooray! i took off in the rain and ran and ran and ran. he asked if i liked running the field. shyly i said yeah. but during my run i came to an epiphany. i dont just like it i LOVE it. its quiet. its still. theres a peacefulness to it. its safe (from snakes and alligators and rapists and murderers). theres water fountains. its close to the car. i can easily adjust my distance- add a lap, take away a lap. i now prefer trail/sand/grass to the pavement. the ground is softer and easier on my knees. its a better workout. for some reason today, i think it was the rain, i decided to run barefoot. it might have been the best feeling in the world. super soft, super wet, perferctly manicured grass under your feet. uhhhh it was wonderful. plus theres something powerful about being able to SEE your footprints. if you’ve read this far. congratulations. i have a question. does running without shoes make running easier, harder, faster, slower? does it even make a difference? i would think no shoes make you faster but based on race results ive seen it looks like it might make you slower.
