new plan!

ok so i dont know if i am an idiot or i just cant read……i thought the marathon was on feb 1st but its on march 1st.  so that really gives me an extra 4 weeks of training which is excellent.  BUT i am still unsure if i should sign up for the full marathon or the half.  i still have a ton of time left!  i have reconfigured the training plans for both and we will see what happens.  i guess it really depends on how well my knees want to cooperate.  the half marathon training schedule looks like 4 days of running and the marathon training looks like 3 days of running….and i dont want to have to give up swimming and biking.  i really wish i could find someone to run with ALL the time, i really hate running alone, even though i dont talk while i run.  its weird.  oh well.  as i was running along tonight i got so happy that i could run.  there were so many times over the last 7 months that i wanted to quit, or was convinced i just wasnt ever going to run (just jog/walk), or that my knees just couldnt handle it.  but there was someone there who expected me to be there 6 times a week and sacrificed his own time to run with me on off days.  soo a big fat thank you to him.

felt like death

ughhh..it was one of those mornings.  i just felt like crap.  was supposed to swim but thought i might blow chunks if i swallowed one mouthful of water so i opted for a run…… didnt feel like changing into my sports bra so i just ran in my bathing suit.  needless to say it was comfortable but i got it done. my time included a 3 minute warm up at 3mph.

circuit training

this mornings off season training was good.  it was a huge circuit set up in the basketball gym full of cardio and resistance training stations.  non-stop for 30 minutes.  (i was late).  

i ran a quick half mile afterwards to cool down.

just a quick workout with kk.  it was good to see her! no work outs with her since the race and it was like two weeks before that!  did some exercising for our souls, and then some hardcore stretching and ab workouts.  hoping to see her friday morning!

super fast cross country

the new off season tri class started this morning.  it was good.  i think its going to be a good class.  im excited!  we ran the field and then did some drills then ran the field and did some drills.  it was a great workout!  so my splits were even faster than that because i spent another minute each half mile doing some sort of exercise.  excellent way to start my day.  :)

slacker!

ok so now that daylight savings time has arrived it gets dark here at about 3:30.  ok so maybe im exagurating but thats what it feels like!  its miserable.  i went out for my long run…..supposed to be 9 miles.  i left myself two hours before it got too dark to run safely.  about 2 miles into my run nature called.  not good.  so i ended up walking home (running just made the ring louder) and answering the call.  by the time i got home handled my business and put my shoes back on it was pitch black.  bummer.  next weekend i have another long one and then tuesday the 11th i have off so i plan on making up my long run from this weekend!

marathon training

this was a tempo run and my splits are as follows

warm-up: 1st mile: 12 minutes

2nd mile: 10:30

1/2 mile jog: 6.5  minutes

3rd mile: 10:40

1/2 mile jog: 6.5 minutes

Cool-Down : 5th mile: 14.5 minutes

 

the smart coach called for a 1 mile warmup, 2 x 1600 at 10:43 with 800 jogs and a 1 mile cool down.  so i am hoping i did it right?  i am not really sure, i am definitely new to all of this.  just a few days ago i learned what “negative splits” meant.  hehe.  this run should have been done on thursday and so we will see how my long run tomorrow goes.  

 

i took two days off.  one accidentally.  one on purpose and my body just doesnt know what to do.  it was not good and has not been pretty.  i wanted to take a rest day on thursday so i could catch up on some sleep i had been missing.  i planned on going on friday but passed out late on thursday night didnt set any alarms and woke up in a PANIC 7 minutes before work started.  ahh!  i didnt teach PE this week and i didnt have training with tpain and i didnt have any two a days so my body really has no idea what to do with itself.  i have my long run tomorrow, hopefully a nice swim or bike monday night (7am drs appt monday) and then back to the grind on tuesday.   with my new tri class starting wednesday morning.  yay!  after careful consideration i have decided to not use the scale on a regular basis.  at least until the 27th….. we will see how it goes!

6.5 is the new 5.0

went for a run cool down and figured out that 6.5 is the new 5.0  when i first started 5.0 felt like i was moving at light speed.  this morning at 6.5 i was comfortable and steady.  

 

i knew it was going to be an AWESOME day!  love it when there is hardcore data to prove your progress.  hooray!
